There are tons of restaurant in Nice, especially near the beach and in the old town. The hungry visitor might tend to just pick a random restaurant. My advice: Please don’t!

As a vegetarian France might not be the best place to go. French people love their meat and most restaurants have only a handful of vegetarian dishes (mostly soups or salads). In a big city like Paris you will probably find vegetarian places on every corner, but in Nice that’s not the case. Luckily I discovered a lovely place that finally meets the needs of vegetarian, or even vegan, people!

Paper Plane – #healthy

For all the healthy eaters and people who are still working on their summer body the super stylish Paper Plane is perfect. It was founded last year by Coralie and Ben, who had a Coffeeshop in Antibes before. Their aim is to make “la cuisine Nicoise” a little bit healthier and welcome their guests in a feel-good atmosphere. The Paper Plane is still a bit of an insiders’ tip, but it already has its steady customers. The restaurant is located between the old town and the big shopping street Avenue Jean Medecin in Rue Gubernatis.

All fruits and vegetables are organic and regional (except from banana and avocado obviously), the dishes are vegetarian, a lot of them even vegan and you won’t find any diary on the menu. Even for people, who don’t eat gluten, Paper Plane offers a couple of options. You will find quinoa, home made granola, super-foods and all the things that make the hearts of health-conscious people leap for joy! My personal favorite: the vegan Chai Latte with soy milk!

Paper Plane serves breakfast, lunch and pastry and is like a paradise for everyone who is obsessed with interior design. On several days brunch is offered from 11am to 3pm, just check their Facebook page to be up to date and make a reservation, if you’d like to start your day right.

Considering the fact that the food is mostly organic, the prices are good. There is the option to get a menu with starter, main dish and dessert for 19€. If you order your food as a take out you can save a couple of Euros.

Check out their pretty website paperplanenice.fr to get an idea of how much love Coralie and Ben put in their little project!

Lea spontaneously decided to spend her Erasmus year in Nice to get a little tan and drink rosé at the beach. Turns out there is much more to do and see! Rather than studying or improving her French skills, she spends her time exploring the Cote d’Azur.
