Located in the heart of Cannes on rue du Suquet, this lively bar is the perfect place to head whether it be a mid-week drink or on a Saturday evening. If you are lucky enough to score a table outside during the summer, then I suggest you definitely settle in for the evening! Set in amongst some of the most renowned restaurants in Cannes, it has an old idyllic feel to it and you almost forget you are in one of the more modern cities of the Riviera.
My drink of choice is always rosé. Since moving to the Riviera, I find it very hard to drink anything else and some might say I have even become a pink wine snob, but nothing beats that sweet taste of rosé, which can be enjoy at alltimes of the day. Charly’s bar has a great selection of all wines including rouge, blanc and rosé and is definitely my go to bar for a ‘wine down’ after a hard week.
France is renowned for its poor service, however Charly’s bar never seems to disappoint with it’s friendly smiles and warm greeting; you always feel at home.
For those who love free appetisers ( I am definitely one), this is definitely the place to try out. Their generous helpings are usually more than enough to keep you going throughout the evenings affair, but if they don’t hit the spot and you are looking for more substantial then head straight for the warm Camembert and get ready to roll home as, with the delicious addition of rosemary and hone,y you definitely won’t be stopping at one mouthful.
Rue du Suquet is a busy cobbled street lined with antique, jewellery and art boutiques. Bubbling with French people hussling up and down deciding where and what to drink and eat, this is the perfect place to people watch and get a real taste of Provencal French life.
With a very reasonable price list, attentive service and its locale in one of the oldest streets in Cannes, this is the definitely a hot spot for you and friends this summer.
